On the 12th and 13th of March 1998, by invitation of the KwaZulu Monuments Council, Ekkeland Götze together with Kathleen and Uli von Kapff excavated SOIL at sites in Zululand which have an important historical meaning for the Zulu people. He got the permission of the local chiefs to excavate the SOIL at the different sites. Zulu guides accompanied him to these particular places.

After an overland four by four trip, he found the grave of Zulu, the founder of the nation, in Emakhosini, the Valley of the Kings.

From KwaBulawayo, Shaka, the ?African Napoleon? expanded the territory of the Zulu nation from an area of 15 x 15 km to an area of about a 1000 km circumference under his influence.

The last SOIL was excavated from the battlefield of Isandlwana, where the British were soundly defeated by the Zulu within two hours.

Thus, a full circle is created, i.e. from the beginnings to the historical highpoint of once of the most powerful South African black nation.
