shoa - the edition

In springtime and summer 2005 - sixty years after the end of the Nationalsocialism -

Ekkeland Götze has collected the SOIL for the SHOA project at 25 sites in 10 different countries in Europe.

The exact excavating sites at the different locations were chosen in collaboration with the local authorities. These were survivals of the Holocaust, as well as Presidents of Jewish communities and organizations and people in charge of the memorial sites. All of them accompanied EG during the excavation of the SOIL.

From September to December 2005 the artist made 25 frescoes in the size of one square meter each.

The main work will be completed by this edition.

The edition contains 24 terragraphics in the size of 50 x 50 cm. These were printed by EG himself on BFK Rives 300 g.

The portfolio was produced by Gisela Benfer in Munich and was painted with SOIL from the excavating sites by EG.

The edition consists of 50 copies.
