RUAUMOKO

The Unborn Child, the Guardian of Volcanoes and Earthquakes,

a book with 14 Terragraphics by Ekkeland Götze and 12 poems by Hone Tuwhare.

The Terragraphics in this book were printed by Ekkeland Götze with EARTH taken from Mount TARAWERA and from the geo-thermal area of WHAKAREWAREWA in the territory of TE ARAWA near Rotorua, North Island of AOTEAROA (New Zealand) on BFK Rives 300 g. One Terragraphic was printed on flax paper, which was produced by EG together with Tina Wirihana in Rotorua. The poems of Hone Tuwhare are printed on Japanese long fibre paper 19 g.

The book was bound by the artist. The cover was produced in Rotorua with help from Tina Wirihana using woven flax.

The fold-out sections at the front and back of the book were made using Thai Saa paper.

It contains "RUAUMOKO" (Haka Taparahi) a war dance and "HE WAIATA AROHA" a love song in Maori, English and German.

The book is accompanied by a pamphlet containing a rendition of the Maori creation myth and stories surrounding Mount TARAWERA in English and German as well as translations into German of the poems of Hone Tuwhare. The translations were made by Michael Herd of the Goethe-Institut Wellington.

The book in the size 42 x 42 x 4 cm is signed by hand on the endpaper. The Terragraphics have been individually signed with an imprint.

It has been produced in an edition of 17 signed copies numbered with Arabic numerals and 5 signed copies numbered with Roman numerals.

The First Copy of the book was presented to TE ARAWA.
